TRANSPORTGETTING TO THE ISLANDFly to Antigua and transfer to Montserrat by small plane. Alternatively, you can charter your own plane, or take the ferry. The flight takes about 15-20 minutes, and the ferry takes about 2 hours. Please contact the Montserrat Tourist Board for latest information as timetables are subject to change. The old airport on the east coast was closed after the volcanic activity, but a new airport was opened in 2005 in the north of the island, approximately 15 minutes drive from the house. We can arrange for you to be met and taken to the house. On the map below the location of the villa is shown by the green arrow: TRANSPORT ON THE ISLANDGiven the location of the house it is strongly recommended that you hire a car during your stay, although there are a number of taxi drivers on island if you prefer. Mountain bikes are also available to hire, but the roads are winding and very hilly! Montserratians drive on the left and you will need a temporary local driving licence if you hire a vehicle. (Cost: EC $50, available on production of your regular licence at the police station.) There are several car hire companies on island and you can usually get a rate of about $US30 per day, payable to car owner on island.
